Mr. Tripp was born in Lowell, Mass., in 1832, and was a son of John and Elizabeth Tripp. He began learning the jeweler's trade at the age of 15 years, and when he was 21 he engaged in business for himself in Lowell. Three years later he came to Brattleboro and formed a partnership with Benjamin K. Chase under the firm name of Chase & Tripp.
