Late 17th-early 18th century French Louis XIV fireback with a phoenix arising from its ashes. With the text: "Flames sont des fleurs ou il representative ma vie" (Flames are flowers that bring me back to life). Cast in the Saint-Claire foundry in Villerupt, Lorraine, between 1680 and 1710. The fireback is made of cast iron and has a black patina.
