With doing some research & testing I believe I now know the answer to my own question. With looking into Fick's Law of Diffusion, it makes sense that the plating temperature plays a huge part in the pink/purple discolouring that is being shown in the jewellery. It would also explain why the pink appears at different times & in different strengths.
